Do you see yourself here?
- You’re moving countries with your family, partner or solo
- You see it as an opportunity or adventure, or it can be overwhelming, and you feel resentment towards it
- You need support on your parenting journey with your children
- Maybe you feel stuck -- you want to make the best of it, but are not sure how to begin
- You’re trying to cope with culture shock and the needed adjustments seem to be too much
Or here?
- You’re struggling with going back to your home country
- You’re in a new work environment and are trying to develop constructive relationships with a new boss and co-workers
- You’re feeling worried, anxious, guilty, embarrassed, depressed, lost, or anything in between
- You did not count on feeling so isolated and you certainly did not count on COVID-19
Covid-19 Support
COVID-19 erupted suddenly across the globe, like a long dormant volcano exploding without warning. It left the entire world in fear, mostly because of its unexpected impact and reach. It disrupted the old familiar life that we knew, and swiftly imposed on us a “new normal” that left us alarmed, while facing a faceless danger that might overwhelm each of us without us seeing it coming.
The outcome was a collective trauma and global feeling of helplessness, hopelessness and insecurity. In the midst of trauma around the world, expatriates were shaken severely, all while trying to make sense of what was happening to them while being away from home and loved ones.
The global Coronavirus health crisis had many facets as to how it impacted the lives of expats. From being forced to make sudden departure decisions, to having jobs postponed or cancelled, to being stuck in places where locals might receive preferential treatment, to being confined in a restricted space with small children and spouses, or entirely the opposite — being totally alone and isolated from all social contact while being in quarantine or lockdown.
Stress such as this inevitably leaves a mark on everyone’s mental health. Even though this situation is temporary, the psychological and physical confinements left us anxious, angry, afraid, worried, isolated, lonely, sad,and made it difficult to remain positive.
In times like this, our team of professionals will support you as you process the shared trauma by creating a safe space where everyone has a right to feel vulnerable, afraid and perplexed while finding a way out of it. Contact us for more information.
